About Meditation:

Types: There are very many different types of meditation. Guided meditations,  mindfulness, empty mind meditation, moving meditations, mantra meditations, meditating on a concept, walking and stone stacking are just a few of the more popular meditation types.

Who Can Meditate: Anyone can meditate, it takes nothing extraordinary other than a simple and basic commitment to yourself to stick to it. If you are willing (and capable) of doing that then you too will reap all of the free benefits of meditating!

Current Class Schedule:

Last updated January 1, 2012

For those who are taking the 3 week course you will also be given a notebook, instruction for journaling your daily meditations and a CD with guided exercises and meditations.

Check back for new classes or contact us to set up an additional class.

Class Descriptions:

PLEASE NOTE: For either of the courses please bring with you either a Zafu or other Meditation cushion or else a couple of large towels that will be rolled up to sit on. Pillows and such typically will not "do the job". Zafu/Zabuton sets will also be available to purchase at the class, if so inclined.

  • The "Introduction to Meditation" class is 2 hours packed with practical and useful knowledge and information. It touches on the many benefits of meditation, some history, and an overview of some of the most common types of meditation. It then focuses on some of basic techniques of "Vipassana" (insight) meditation, some useful tools (such as proper seating and how to recover from a distraction), practice and assessment time followed up with discussions.

If you want to finally learn the basics of how to meditate without the religion or Yoga poses that accompany most other meditation instruction classes then this is for you!

  • The "3 Week Intermediate Meditation Course" is for those who want to take their meditation beyond the casual and to a full meditation practice.

In addition to week one "Introduction to Meditation" class, during the following 2 weeks this course will include experiential exercises to capitalize on the posture and alignment that is correct for you, exercises in two other types of meditation, how to integrate your meditation into all aspects of your life, and weekly reviews and suggestions and recommendations for improvement/help in resolving issues that will keep you on your path.

For those that may run into difficulties and blocks in their meditation after the course has completed we also offer on-going support to assist you as your meditation practice develops. Journal notebook, handouts, a CD with several exercises for your use and the on-going support are all included in the course fees.

This course requires a 3 week commitment to daily meditation and brief journaling of your daily meditation sessions.

On Insight Meditation (Vipassana):

It was Gautama Siddhartha himself (the "Buddha") who developed this technique 2500 years ago.

Yes, it's just a technique...

No talk of God, no ritual, no dogma, non-sectarian (no ties with Buddhism) and absolutely universal.

It doesn't matter if you're rich, poor, young, old, saintly, sinner, male, female, Catholic, Muslim, Jew, etc.

It's for everyone who desires to live a peaceful, harmonious and happy life, devoid of misery and all its trappings.

“The gift of learning to meditate is the greatest gift you can give yourself in this life. For it is only through meditation that you can undertake the journey to discover your true nature, and so find the stability and confidence you will need to live, and die, well. Meditation is the road to enlightenment”.
